Find The Right Diet For You- Part 3

Checking Your Blood Sugar

How Do I Check my blood glucose levels?

  1. Purchase a blood glucose kit online or at your local pharmacy, can often get a starter kit for around $15
  2. After washing your hands, insert a test strip into your meter.
  3. Adjust the lancing device for the correct amount of pressure needed to for a small poke and blood.
  4. Use your lancing device on the side of your fingertip to get a drop of blood. Don't worry this does not hurt bad! If it is very painful, adjust to use less pressure with the lance and change fingers
  5. Touch and hold the edge of the test strip to the drop of blood, and wait for the result.
  6. Your blood glucose level will appear on the meter's display.

Note: All meters are slightly different, so  refer to your user's manual for specific instructions.
